For host connection, the NIC 50-RE uses serial interfaces such as UART or SPI, leveraging the Modbus RTU protocol for data transfer. This approach is ideal for devices with low data throughput, simplifying their integration without requiring an additional host processor.

The module also offers the ability to control shift registers via a synchronous serial interface, enabling direct management of digital I/Os without an additional processor. Furthermore, thanks to netX technology, a single hardware version of the NIC 50-RE can be used across different communication systems—a firmware change is all that is needed to adapt to the desired protocol.

In terms of technical specifications, the NIC 50-RE measures 42 x 21 x 15 mm, operates on a +3.3 V supply voltage with a typical consumption of 400 mA, and is equipped with 8 MB of SDRAM. It also features a system LED for displaying operational states.
