Panel PCs for the food industry: IP65, stainless steel, capacitive or resistive?
Solution for agri-food
The ideal choice depends on your usage, not the technical sheet!
To choose a Panel PC for the food industry, prioritize a front face that is waterproof, without rough edges, and easy to clean. An IP65 rating is suitable for splashes, while an IP66 or IP69K is preferable for intensive washing. Stainless steel is more resistant to corrosion. Capacitive touch provides a smooth interface, while resistive works with thick gloves.

Leaving your real environment, not just the sealing
An equipment installed outside of the washing or decontamination area does not impose the same choices as a terminal exposed daily to splashes, high-pressure cleaning, detergents, and protective gloves.
What level of water resistance?
IP65 protects against dust and water splashes. For more intense washing or with bleach, for example, prefer a model certified IP66 or IP69K, with protection on all 6 sides of the chassis. An M12 connector ensures end-to-end water resistance.
Why a stainless steel chassis?
Stainless steel is more resistant to corrosion than aluminum or raw metal. That’s why it is preferred in production areas in the food industry. The quality of the seals and the size of the connectors must withstand chemical washing or high pressure.
Capacitive or resistive touchscreen?
The capacitive touchscreen (multi-touch) has a smooth surface. The resistive touchscreen responds to pressure and works even with a thick glove. It is critical to choose the equipment based on what the operator is wearing on site.

Ethernet, serial, USB, video and expansion interfaces. In wet areas, connectors and cables must maintain the required level of protection.

Temperature & vibrations
Check the operating and storage temperature ranges, condensation, mounting method and mechanical constraints of the workstation.

The size, aspect ratio, brightness, viewing angle and resolution must be suited to the operator's viewing distance and position.

Mounting
Panel mount, VESA, arm or stand. The mounting solution must limit areas where residue can accumulate while maintaining accessibility for maintenance.
