What's New in Windows 11 IoT LTSC
User interface improvements and touchscreen friendly
Windows 11 IoT LTSC features a redesigned look with a particular focus on ergonomics. Users will benefit from a more fluid and intuitive interface, facilitating navigation and access to various features. The icons have been redrawn to provide better visual clarity, and the context menus are now better organized for more efficient use.
This new design also allows for a better use of touch screens, making Windows 11 IoT LTSC ideal for various types of IoT devices. The interface is designed to automatically adapt to different screen sizes, ensuring a consistent and pleasant user experience. Users will thus enjoy a pleasant experience whether on an industrial screen or a rugged tablet. The context menu is also much more adaptable. Finally, it introduces dark and light display modes (Dark Mode / Light mode).
Introduced in Windows 11 and also present in the IoT version, users can now adjust display settings, choose from a variety of themes, and configure virtual desktops according to their preferences.
Performance and Security
The new version of Windows 11 IoT LTSC stands out due to improved resource management. This means that the hardware prerequisites have significantly decreased, as we explain in our dedicated blog post. Discover the details in the figure below.
Update Management
The update management in Windows 11 IoT LTSC has been created (like the entire Long Term Support range from Microsoft) to provide a seamless user experience. Updates can be scheduled during low activity periods, maintenance, or shutdowns, thereby minimizing disruptions. Additionally, the system allows you to choose which types of updates to install, thus providing control over the versions and patches applied. This ensures that devices always operate with the latest security and performance improvements while avoiding unexpected interruptions.
As with version 10, a specific Microsoft contract is required to have the right to market this version. Moreover, it may only be sold once integrated into hardware. Finally, if you wish to upgrade from Windows 10 IoT to Windows 11 IoT LTSC, it will require a new license.
