How to configure your Advantech industrial 4G router?

Network equipment, in general, can sometimes be complex to configure. This is especially true when it comes to professional hardware that often requires significant technical knowledge prerequisites. The 4G router is no exception in terms of complexity. Consumer versions are often delivered pre-configured by the manufacturer. This is not the case for professional and industrial versions. The only initially established configuration is the one for accessing the network for the latter.

The first launch

After inserting your SIM card(s) into the 4G router and connecting a compatible industrial or professional power supply, the router starts up autonomously. There are no buttons here. If the equipment is plugged in, it will start. Then you need to connect directly via an RJ45 cable to the ETH0 port (if there are multiple Ethernet ports) and you will reach it at IP 192.168.1.1 through your web browser.

In general, the web configuration interface is accessible via this link https://192.168.1.1

For security reasons, the default password on Advantech brand routers is no longer "root". It is now random and available on the label underneath the equipment. Of course, you will find a user manual in this regard in the box.

The settings options

Once authenticated, you will have access to the product configuration interfaces with a long list of options including:

  • LAN - eth0 and eth1 settings
  • VRRP - Virtual Server IP Address
  • Mobile WAN - configuration of your 4G communications and your SIM cards and details of operators.
  • Static Routes IPv4 and IPv6
  • Firewall Rules IPv4 and IPv6
  • NAT Rules IPv4 and IPv6
  • OpenVPN
  • IPsec
  • GRE
  • L2TP

  • DynDNS
  • FTP
  • HTTP
  • NTP
  • SNMP
  • SMS
  • SSH
  • SysLog

    ...

With all these menus you will be able to configure your industrial 4G router under the best conditions.

Tip: If you make a mistake in the network configuration, you can revert to factory settings via the small button next to the Ethernet ports.

If you have any questions, feel free to download the user manuals available on our site at the bottom of each product sheet. If necessary, you can certainly contact our technical support.
